How does the COVID-19 outbreak affect your summer holiday in Croatia?
The clock has stopped ticking it seems. The entire world has been affected by the corona virus outbreak and Europe has been hit hard since its first cases appeared in Italy in February 2020. Many of you (myself included) are at home now in self-isolation until the government decided to let go of certain restrictions.
We sincerely hope that you are well and that you can escape isolation a bit by daydreaming about a future holiday.
To help you stay informed about the current travel situation in Croatia please visit the following website.
We are in a lucky position, because Villa Timeout has always been a very remote holiday home surrounded by nature where you and your family get to enjoy the privacy of the house. This year we have updated our cleaning schedule, by instructing our staff to disinfect the entire house in addition to the general cleaning prior to your arrival. You will take over a deep-cleaned holiday home.
If you decide to book our HOT-TUB for one week, we will disinfect it on the day of your arrival and you will get to fill in the fresh water by yourself.
Due to the COVID-19 situation we decided to offer a FREE-CANCELLATION voucher for all bookings until November 2020.
NEW Addition: A Private Hot-Tub
It was quite a bit of work that week in March 2019 but was absolutely worth it!
For a small extra fee you get to use our exclusive hot-tub throughout the seasons. What's more relaxing than taking a dip with your family, or close friends, enjoying a glass of red wine, looking at the ocean?
The 35kW oven is fired with wood which you can find at the hardware store in the village but also at most of the supermarkets in Rogoznica. The oven heats the tub within a couple of hours to a comfortable temperature of 38°C.
This Hot-Pot will be cleaned and disinfected prior to your arrival. During your stay, you are in charge of keeping it clean. We have a pump that runs and cleans the pool during the night and if you close the lid of the tub you will keep it clean and the mosquitos out.
A few nice days on the Dalmatian coast in January
Even for a couple of days to relax it's absolutely worth the drive in mid of January. Unfortunately we have forgotten our bikes! A nice 6 hour hike with a stop at agritourism Šarićevi Dvori (yes - it was open mid of January!!!) compensates for that! There are not many restaurants open in Rogoznica that time of the year but nevertheless you get everything you need and the portions of seafood seem even a bit bigger than in main season ;-) (January 2018)
Harvesting olives from our garden...
Our first homemade olives - how exciting!!!
After a nice and sunny harvesting-day in mid of November we had to keep them in water and change it every day for around 40 days to get rid of the bitter taste! Then we filled them into smaller glasses with salt water and olive oil, added some lime chest and - of course - herbs from the garden. They taste absolutely delicious!!! (December 2017)
Spring at the end of summer in Rogoznica...
After four months of sunshine we finally had some rain. Now the sun is back and it looks like we are steering towards a second spring this year. Come by and enjoy the beauty of (re)awakening nature.
These photos were taken on September 21st in our garden and give you a glimpse at the beauty of after season.
From October to December Hiking, Biking, Fishing or Windsurfing are just a few activities for probably the most beautiful time of the year.
Hiking and Walking Trails Galore....
Swing by and visit us in autumn or spring and enjoy the most beautiful hiking and walking trails. They start just a few meters outside our house and the trail leads up through the most gorgeous olive tree sites.
Our previous guests have been telling us that they discovered lots of old rustic stone houses and large fig trees on their way.
Get ready to enjoy magnificent views of the ocean too! A water bottle per person and descent walking shoes are a must-have before leaving on a tour! (August 2017)
The story of the house is short:
We used to sail the area of Rogoznica for a large amount of time during the summer of 2016.
Having visited many countries around the Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea, we believe that there is no other area where the climate is as mild and consistent as in Rogoznica. We also believe that the most gorgeous beaches and pristine bays in Dalmatia are in and around the area of Rogoznica.
By autumn 2016 we have found this house and instantly fell in love. Our summer love story was complete.... but this is were the work began...
Renovating the house - Springtime 2017:
Downstairs apartment: Remodeling the window frames, the inside door frames and renewing the white fillings between the bathroom-, kitchenfloor-tiles.
In the upper apartment: Sanding and varnishing the wooden floors, building and installing new bar stools and tables, installing an electric stove and oven...
Other jobs that needed to be done:
Repaint all walls and ceilings, changing the interior doors to sliding doors for more interior space, renewing kitchen and bathroom mixers.
Sanding and painting of the outside railing, Recreate the outside area (herbal garden, flowers, plant a lime, lemon, orange and fig tree), finishing the barbecue and creating the Mosaik design on the outside table and barbecue roof, installing an outside shower.
Adding a sand booth for kids, a chill out area and a large umbrella to our herb garden. We're looking forward to your feedback after having enjoyed your holiday in our holiday house!! (July 2017)
This photo was taken on December 13th 2016. It was still sunny and to our astonishment +16 degrees outside temperature!! Made us think of spending Christmas and New Years Eve in Rogoznica by the sea. The coldest time of the year, January and February is supposed to be the coldest: degrees below zero are not very common though... (December 2016)
